Looney Tunes holds fun run races

MANILA,June 23, 2009 ---- Looney Tunes Active!, a Warner Bros. project aimed at promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among children aged 4-12 through a series of fun run events in various schools, fires off today June 23 at the Miriam Grade School grounds in Katipunan Ave., QC.

The kick off leg of the series spread over eight premier schools in the metropolis will be held from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Sponsored by the popular cartoon from Warner Bros., the event is designed to encourage not only the children but also their parents to get involved in sports and fitness activities and staying healthy while having fun.

Claret School will stage the second leg of the event, backed by Alaska, Timex watches, Nestle Ice Cream, PT Kino, Sterling, JC Lucas, and Advance notebooks, on Thursday (June 25), also from 3-4 p.m., For details, log on to www.looneytunesactive.com.

A 45-minute running clinic, to be conducted by Rio de la Cruz, will be held in each stop starting today till Aug. 5. De la Cruz is a pro athlete and coach with 14 years of experience in providing training, strength and conditioning programs to athletes, celebrities, students and running enthusiasts.

De La Salle-Zobel (3-4:30 p.m) and Ateneo de Manila (9 a.m.-12 noon) will host the next three stages on July 17 and 19, respectively. San Beda College-Alabang will take its turn on July 24 for the sixth leg.

Capping the six-week school tour is a fun run on Aug. 30 at the SM Mall of Asia featuring 3K and 5K runs and 3-on-3 basketball competitions slated in the afternoon.

Registration fee for the fun run is P300 for any of the 3K or 5K runs and P500 for both categories. Just visit the Nike Park at Bonifacio High Street.
