PSEP and Google make it easier to connect to your friends online

June 21, 2009 -- Who would have thought this would ever happen? But it has!

PSEP ever since its inception has always been a trailblazer and innovator. We always try to do what many Philippine sports websites haven’t done yet. And we have been rewarded by websites such as Google of our pioneering efforts. In fact, when you type “Philippine Sports Portal” on Google, we are proud to say that PSEP is on the top of the list. Considering that there are sports websites, blogs and portals that went online before us, that is a very big and proud achievement for PSEP, and we have you to thank for that.

So in the spirit of innovation, we have added something new on our website that many of you guys have been clamoring for, connection with friends on different websites. Now, believe it or not, it's possible.

Thanks to our friends at Google, we now have Google Friend Connect. It’s is an online service by Google that allows users on the Internet to connect with their friends on different websites, thanks to Google Friend Connect which is an Open Social application offered by Google.

Google Friend Connect main focus is to simplify the connection between social and non-social websites and standardize the handling and presentation of social applications and content. It uses a blend of open standards, such as OpenID for signin, oAuth to control data, and Open Social for applications.

It requires no knowledge on web programming and enables any website to offer social applications and content from Facebook, Hi5, Orkut, Plaxo, MySpace, Google Talk, Netlog, Twitter and other social networks.

The interface is in English and there's no option to choose other languages. Google didn't announce any plans to translate it and most words can't be translated by the site that implements it.

In May 2009, Google introduced a new feature called "Comment Translation" in Friend Connect. With this feature, comments left in any native language except English can be easily translated to English.

PSEP and Google have always been striving to make your life easier on the web, and what better way to make it easier and simpler than by communicating with your friends on PSEP to whatever website your friends might be on at the moment.

So check it out and have fun, expect more innovative stuff from your best and logical choice for Sports News Updates and Entertainment features from the Philippines. By the way, the service on PSEP and Google Friend Connect is free!
