Pacquiao is harbinger of good news

MANILA, -– Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao is a harbinger of good news and the first boxer in history to have five championship titles in different divisions, according to Press Secretary Cerge Remonde.

”Today, we welcome back our returning hero Manny Pacquiao from his latest achievement, another one for the record books –- the first boxer in history to wear the championship belt in five different weight divisions,” said Remonde

”This achievement puts additional gloss on other good news that makes this week a happy one for the country -– good news about continued growth in bank loans despite the global recession, building momentum on the stock market, confirmation of our credit ratings, expectations for OFW remittances to be even higher in the second half of this year compared to the first, new diplomatic breakthroughs by the President during her latest foreign trip to Egypt and Syria. Even on the health front, we continue to be spared from the global outbreak of A/H1N1 flu,” he said.

“So when we celebrate Manny’s victory next Monday, let us take the opportunity to thank God for all the other good news that gladdens our hearts and fortifies us to carry on with the tasks of nation building. We too can compete and win on any playing field of our own choosing, provided we set our minds and hearts to it, work hard and persevere, unite and rally behind our heroes and our leaders,” Remonde concluded.
